Brooklyn Park has been my home for over 20 years. My wife, See, and I celebrated part of our traditional Hmong wedding at her parent's beautiful home off West River Road in the River View neighborhood. We have loved Brooklyn Park and the surrounding area ever since. We always appreciate the deer, turkeys, and other abundant wildlife that also call Brooklyn Park home, and love the closeness of the river, parks, and trails. We eventually bought a home ourselves in the Candlewood neighborhood and now we live in Edinburgh. We have a mini-poodle named, Nkauj Hli, who loves the off-leash areas and we're blessed to have just welcomed our first child into the world.

Bringing people together around the issues they care about brings me joy. I'm a community and coalition builder at heart. I'm running for MN House to also help our community heal. I'm proud to have called Speaker Melissa Hortman a neighbor and mentor. Her legacy of principled leadership and fierce advocacy for our community has paved the way for a new generation of public servants. I'm ready to carry that legacy forward stronger, to ensure families and residents across the district, and Minnesota, have a steadfast and compassionate advocate at the Capitol.

Legislative Priorities:
HEALTH CARE & ACCESS
Everyone should have the right to basic health care that is individualized and preventative. One's health and well-being should not be at the mercy or grace of one's employer. I support expansion of MinnesotaCare's public option, abortion access, veterans and LGBTQ+ health issues, lowering the cost of prescription drugs, and passing Health Care for All legislation so that all Minnesotans have affordable and comprehensive healthcare.

EDUCATIONAL EXCELLENCE
Minnesota is generally recognized for strong graduation rates and college readiness. However, proficiency in reading and math have seen a decline in standards testing. There are also significant disparities in educational achievement along socioeconomic and racial lines. Currently our education system is ranked 27th in the country (WalletHub 2025). We can do better than that by working diligently together with our parents, teachers, and administrators to fully fund and keep our K-12 budgets focused on early childhood education, increasing proficiencies in elementary grades, decreasing achievement gaps throughout, and with curriculum that reflects the lived experiences of our students.

THE TECH-ONOMY & INFRASTRUCTURE
From internet accessibility to workforce development and housing. From electric charging stations to medical innovations. From cybersecurity modernization to the rise of AI. No other sector speaks to the future of Minnesota more than technology and the infrastructure needed to support it. I will champion unions and projects like Brooklyn Park's BioTech Innovation District that will greatly benefit our NW metro. I'll also ensure that there are wealth building opportunities for all by utilizing cutting-edge tools like Dr. Bruce Corrie's Belonging Economy Generator.

CLEAN ENERGY & ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE
As we keep our sights on 100% carbon-free electricity by 2040 and protecting low-income communities from cumulative pollution impacts, we need to also protect our treasured natural resources. Especially, the boundary waters and our iconic Mississippi River.
Endorsements

John Hoffman
State Senator - SD34
"Dear Friends and Neighbors of District 34B,

It is with great respect and a strong sense of hope that I endorse Xp Lee for the Minnesota House of Representatives. Xp brings both wisdom and lived experience to this race. As a former Brooklyn Park City Council member and a health equity strategist at the Minnesota Department of Health, Xp understands our community’s challenges—from affordable health care and quality education to environmental justice and economic opportunity. Growing up in public housing as a refugee, Xp has always carried a deep commitment to service and inclusion.
Xp Lee stands for building lasting coalitions—with leaders, families, and neighbors across District 34B. I’ve witnessed first-hand how he approaches community involvement not just as engagement, but as partnership. He is a voice grounded in compassion, practical solutions, and a shared vision of progress.
As my colleague Rep. Melissa Hortman often said, true leadership means lifting others up—especially during difficult times. Xp is prepared to honor Melissa’s legacy by bringing principled, visionary leadership back to our Representative seat. I believe he will serve with the same fierce dedication to Minnesotans’ well‑being that once defined her years of service. Today, our community needs someone who understands humility, understands hope—and is ready to listen and act. Xp Lee is that leader.
I encourage neighbors across Brooklyn Park, Champlin, and Coon Rapids to support Xp Lee in the upcoming primary and special election. Together, we can build on our values, honor Melissa's legacy, and ensure every voice is heard in the State Capitol."

Amanda Cheng Xiong
Brooklyn Park Council Member - East
"I'm proud to endorse Xp Lee because he has consistently demonstrated what true leadership looks like when it comes to empowering the next generation. Xp doesn't just talk about youth being the future, he actively creates spaces for young people to step up, speak out, and lead. His unwavering support, guidance, and sacrifices for youth potential has inspired so many, including me.

Following in Xp's footsteps, I've been able to turn my love and passion for community into action as an elected official, guided by the example he set. He walks the talk, showing that when we invest in our young leaders, we build a stronger, more hopeful future for everyone. Xp doesn't just say 'youth are the next leaders,' he actually lives it and I'm proud to be living proof of that."
